TNA/NOA

1st Call for Trans National Access and National Open Access (TNA/NOA)

The application process will close on January 31, 2025 (23:59 CET)

TNA/NOA programmes are initiatives aiming at supporting scientists by providing them free access to facilities, equipment, expertise, services and resources of Research Infrastructures (RIs) that they do not usually have access to. Within the context of WP5 of the SUS-MIRRI.IT project, a comprehensive protocol has been established to coordinate and manage the services and procedures for enabling TNA and NOA in 5 research facilities in Italy.

The TNA/NOA access is free of charge and includes:

– Technical and scientific support (Users will have access to laboratories, services, machines, products and assistance during the TNA/NOA)
– Administrative and logistic support (the facilities’ local staff will advise and assist Users with logistics including bookings, travel itineraries, on-site accommodation and local transportation)
– Hands-on training needed to access the facilities (training will be provided for the proper and safe use of the facility).

TNA funding does not include:

– Non-standard consumables
– Expenses required before or after the TNA/NOA visit (reimbursement covers only the access days, as well as one day before and after the access period, including weekends if access spans a weekend).

The TNA/NOA programme sponsors Users’:

– Access to the SUS-MIRRI.IT partners; installations (microbial resources, facilities, laboratories, standard consumables, chemicals, and disposables)
– Travel expenses (one round trip/person). Up to 800 EUR/project in case of TNA from outside of EU or 400 EUR/project in case of inside EU or 200 EUR/project in case of NOA.
– Subsistence (meals and accommodation, midscale, for up to 30 days, weekends included). Up to 150 EUR/day.
– Shipping costs of project materials from the SUS-MIRRI.IT partner’s facility to the home institutions (not for all Access providers, please, check with the Facility manager).

Modality of access
The SUS-MIRRI.IT TNA/NOA program offers access to facilities through two main modalities:

– Physical access (hands-on): this option requires a single User to visit the laboratory where the TNA/NOA facility is located.
– Remote service (send-in-sample): under this modality, resources and services are offered without Users physically visiting the facility. Instead, Users send samples for analysis to the facility, where an operator conducts the analyses.
